Prophet Mohammed (also spelled Muhammad) is the founder of Islam and is considered the last prophet in the Islamic faith. Born in Mecca (modern-day Saudi Arabia) in 570 CE, Prophet Mohammed is believed by Muslims to have received revelations from God through the angel Gabriel, which were later compiled into Islam’s holy book, the Quran. These revelations form the basis of Islamic teachings, including the core tenets of monotheism, morality, and social justice.

Prophet Mohammed's life and teachings are central to Islam, and his actions and sayings, known as the Hadith, are also regarded as important sources of guidance for Muslims. He is revered for his wisdom, humility, and dedication to spreading the message of Islam, which emphasizes peace, compassion, and submission to the will of God.

Mohammed's leadership played a crucial role in uniting the tribes of Arabia under the banner of Islam, establishing a strong religious, political, and military foundation for the new faith. The Islamic community that grew under his leadership eventually expanded beyond the Arabian Peninsula, influencing the development of civilizations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe.

His life is celebrated by Muslims around the world, particularly during Islamic holidays such as Mawlid al-Nabi, which marks his birth. However, depictions of Prophet Mohammed are generally avoided in Islamic tradition, as reverence for him and sensitivity about his portrayal are deeply embedded in the faith.

In June 2022, BOOM investigated a viral video that was falsely claimed to show protests in response to anti-Prophet Mohammed remarks.

BOOM found that the video was actually from November 9, 2019, in Sanaa, Yemen, and was unrelated to the recent controversy surrounding anti-Prophet comments by Indian political figures. The video was misleadingly shared in a different context.
