A fake screenshot purportedly showing Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu apologizing to Indians circulated online, but our fact-check revealed that it was false. President Muizzu made no such apology, and his verified social media accounts showed no evidence of the alleged post. Another instance was the video circulating on social media claiming to show recent anti-India protests in the Maldives is actually from June 2023 during the 'India Out' protests. These protests were organized by opposition parties in Maldives and involved demonstrators wearing Modi masks and holding banners with slogans like "India Out."
