Prominent celebrities used by the scamsters of Laila Rao include Sadhguru, Mukesh Ambani, and Katrina Kaif. Victims like Pranati from Kochi and Ragini from Bhopal were drawn in by the scam’s portrayal of Rao as a successful investor who could help them achieve financial stability.

The scam came to light when victims, after transferring their money, received no communication from Rao. The scam had a significant impact, with many losing large sums of money. Authorities and cybercrime units across various states issued advisories and warnings about the ‘Laila Rao’ scam.
