ISRO

ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) is India’s national space agency, responsible for the country's space exploration, satellite deployment, and scientific research programs. Founded in 1969 by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, ISRO operates under the Department of Space, Government of India, and has played a significant role in advancing India's position in global space exploration.

ISRO's notable achievements include the Chandrayaan missions to the Moon, Mangalyaan (Mars Orbiter Mission), and the development of launch vehicles like the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV). These accomplishments have placed India among the leading spacefaring nations, allowing ISRO to carry out low-cost, high-efficiency space missions. In 2014, ISRO became the first Asian agency to reach Mars on its first attempt, earning global recognition for its Mars Orbiter Mission.

Apart from deep space missions, ISRO has been instrumental in launching satellites for communication, weather forecasting, navigation, and Earth observation. It also engages in collaborations with other space agencies like NASA, ESA, and Roscosmos. ISRO's work contributes significantly to India's technological advancements, socio-economic development, and defense capabilities.

In July 2019, BOOM investigated a viral image falsely claimed to show a religious ceremony performed before the launch of Chandrayaan 2.

BOOM found that the image was actually from September 2013, depicting a religious ceremony held before the second test launch of the Agni-V missile, not Chandrayaan 2.
