India’s Got latent is a YouTube reality show launched by Samay Raina, an Indian stand-up comedian and YouTuber. It premiered on June 14, 2024 on YouTube. The India’s Got Latent offers contestants a stage to showcase their unique talent which can also be bizarre. The platform placed an emphasis on entertaining the audience. The main hosts of the show is Samay Raina and Co-host Balraj Singh Ghai and they invite some of the special guests, mainly influencers and the comic, an individual known for their ability to take jokes in stride. It differs from other reality shows because it has a unique point system, contestants get 90 seconds to exhibit their talent and before they start they must write or predict the score they will get in advance and keep it to themself. After the performance, the panelist/judges rate them, and the average score matches the contestants' prediction that they will win the earnings from that day’s ticket sales. According to the show, the format aims to test how self-aware participants are. The show also has a membership subscription at ₹59.

The show starts with an announcement “It is an unnecessary reality show.” The show thrives on dark humor, with no topic off the limit. Raina has a huge fan following and the show has received more than 30 Million views. The show grew popular over time, but critics say it goes vulgar with each episode. The judges, in the name of roasting and banter, aired unhinged, outrightly obnoxious views. In a recent episode featuring Ranveer Allahbadia, a well-known podcaster, asked a contestant a question “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to stop it forever”? This question led to controversy and went viral quickly, sparking outrage online and offline from the viewers, activist groups and politicians. The Maharashtra cyber department registered an FIR against all the 30 individuals, including artist, host, judges, and participants of all six episodes of India’s Got Latent. The senior police officer from Maharashtra state Cyber police said “we will be issuing summons to all, asking them to join the police probe” to the Express. Assam chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on 10th February tweeted that Guwahati Crime Branch has registered a cases against five YouTubers - Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija and Samay Raina for promoting obscenity and engaging in vulgar discussion under section 79, 95, 294, 296, section 67 of IT Act, 2000, Section 4/7 of Cinematograph Act 1952 and Section 4/6 of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition ) Act, 1986. They have been booked under section 79, 196, 299, 292, Section 3(5) and Section 67 by the Maharashtra Crime Branch. In response to all the controversies Ranveer Allahbadia posted a video in his X asking for apology on 10 February and following that Samay Raina also tweeted that he had removed all the videos of Latent from YouTube on 12 February.

BOOM had debunked the misinformation about India’s Got Latent like in February 2025, BOOM fact-checked a video of Ranveer Allahbadia crying after outrage and police action over his controversial joke on India’s Got Latent show. BOOM found that the viral video of Ranveer Allahbadia is from April 2021, when the podcaster was crying during a vlog after he was diagnosed with COVID-19.
