In May 2024, BOOM fact-checked several reports, including those by News18, which falsely claimed that a 17-year-old accused in the Pune Porsche crash had released an offensive rap song.

BOOM’s investigation found that the rap was actually created by a Delhi-based Instagrammer, not the accused. This fact-check highlighted the need for rigorous source verification in news reporting, especially in the coverage of sensitive cases.
