      Pak News Channel Reports Fake News That Sikh Regiment Refused To Fight For India

    • Pakistani news channel 'Abb Takk' claimed on March 5, 2019 that the Indian Army's 21 Sikh Regiment refused to fight for India.

      While reporting, Abb Takk quoted Twitter user Gurmeet Kaur's tweet stating the claim that '21 Sikh regiment refused to fight for India' with a screenshot of Republic TV purporting to report it.

      The tweet went viral with many Pakistani social media users falling for it and sharing it.

      FACT-CHECK

      BOOM analysed the screenshot and found it to be photoshopped as the text seems superimposed.

      Additionally, Republic TV did not report any such news at 4:49 pm either on March 3, 2019 or March 4, 2019.

      Article Deleted

      BOOM also found that Abb Takk had deleted their article after Twitter users called it out.

      Indian Army Calls Out Fake News

      Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) of the Indian Army tweeted out alerting people to be aware of false & malicious tweets being spread against Indian Army units.
