        Bangladeshi Doctors Claims To Have Found Successful COVID-19 Drug Regimen

        A medical team in Bangladesh has claimed to have found a combination of drugs which can successfully cure COVID-19, reports PTI. Professor Dr Md Tarek Alam, the head of medicine department at private Bangladesh Medical College Hospital, said that a combination of an antiprotozoal medicine called Ivermectin and an antibiotic called Doxycycline has seen all 60 COVID-19 patients it was prescribed to recovering from the disease.

        Delhi Prohibits Testing Dead Bodies For COVID-19

        In revised guidelines issued on Sunday, the Delhi government has prohibited hospitals from collecting samples for COVID-19 testing, reports Hindustan Times. According to the guidelines, a death will be treated as a COVID-19 fatality if "tested positive for the disease before death, a person whose sample had been collected before death and tested positive after, or for any person who died after being admitted to a hospital on suspicion of having the viral infection." The move is aimed at conserving testing kits.

        India Among 62 Nations Seeking Source Of Coronavirus At WHO Session

        India will join 61 other countries in tabling a resolution at the WHO on Monday to "identify the zoonotic source of the virus and the route of introduction to human population, including possible role of intermediate hosts", reports News18.

        India Records Highest Single-Day Spike In Total Cases; 3,029 Dead

        According to the latest update from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India added 5,242 cases in the last 24 hours to take its total case count to 96,169. This is the highest single-day spike in India so far. 157 patients died from COVID-19 to take the death toll to 3,029. 36,823 patients have recovered so far. Maharashtra accounts for almost 1/3rd of India's total cases with 33,053 cases. 1,198 patients have succumbed to the disease in the state.

        Centre extends lockdown till May 31

        The National Disaster Management Authority issued an order on Sunday that extends the ongoing lockdown pan India until May 31. This will be the fourth extension of the ongoing lockdown, which has started on March 25. The NDMA has directed that applicable guidelines be issued.

        Tamil Nadu extends lockdown till May 31

        Tamil Nadu on Sunday announced an extension of the ongoing lockdown up to May 31. This lockdown spans the state, but there will be work and travel relaxations in 25 of the least affected districts in the state, like Coimbatore, Salem, Trichy and the Nilgiris. The state has more than 10.5 thousand out of India's more than 90.9 thousand reported cases.

        Lockdown extended in Maharashtra till May 31

        The Chief Minister of Maharashtra's office tweeted on Sunday that the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown in Maharashtra would be extended till May 31. Today is supposed to be the last day of the third iteration of a nationwide lockdown.The state is the most affected state in India, with 30,706 cases of the country's 90,927 cases as on May 16.

        India crosses the 90,000 case mark

        India has crossed the 90,000 case mark, as the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported 90,927 cases as on May 17. The cases have risen by 4,987 over what was reported on May 16. The figure includes 2872 deaths, an increase of 120 over yesterday. 34,109 patients have recovered.

        UK Launches Trial To See If Dogs Can Detect COVID-19 Patients

        The UK has begun trials to see if dogs can detect the novel coronavirus in humans even before symptoms appear, according to a PTI report. Researchers are hoping the trials will establish use of 'COVID dogs' as a new non-invasive early-warning measure to detect the novel coronavirus.
