        Former Pakistani Cricketer Shahid Afridi Test Positive For COVID-19

        Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi revealed on Saturday that he has tested positive for COVID-19. In a tweet, Afridi said that he had been feeling unwell since Thursday and had body ache.

        Total COVID-19 Cases In India Cross 3 Lakhs

        India reported a record one-day spike in new COVID-19 cases as 11,458 people tested positive for the disease in the last 24 hours. The total case count stands at 3,08,993. 386 people died due to COVID-19 as the death toll rose to 8,884. India has now recorded more deaths than Germany and ranks 9th in the world in COVID-19 fatalities.

        UK Economy Shrank By Record 20.4% In April Due To COVID-19 Lockdown

        The UK's economy shrank by a record 20.4% in April due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the country's Office for National Statistics said on Friday. The report also states that from February to April, the economy declined by 10.4% compared to the previous three-month period. The decline is three times greater than the decline witnessed during the 2008-09 economic crisis.

        Buses With Passengers, Goods Trucks Can Operate Between From 9pm To 5 am: MHA

        The Ministry of Home Affairs has clarified that buses with passengers and goods trucks can ply on highways between 9 pm and 5 am, reports PTI. However, people's movement is restricted between this time.

        "The restriction does not apply to instances of loading/unloading of goods (as part of supply chains and logistics); buses carrying persons and trucks and goods carriers plying on state and national highways; or persons travelling to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains and flights," Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said in a communique to states and union territories.

        Lockdown Not Extended In Maharashtra: CM Uddhav Thackeray

        Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday announced that the lockdown has not been extended in the state. Thackeray tweeted saying

        "Lockdown not re-announced. Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray has requested and appealed to the people not to crowd anywhere. Follow the instructions given by the government and take care of yourself."

        India Adds Record 10,956 New COVID-19 Cases

        According to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India added 10,956 new COVID-19 cases to take the total case count to 2,97,535. A record 396 patients succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours to take the death toll to 8,498. India is now the fourth-worst hit nation in the world overtaking the UK. Only the USA, Brazil and Russia have reported more cases than India.

        TN To Probe If COVID-19 Deaths Are Underreported

        After a Times of India report stated that the Directorate of Public Health did not report around 236 deaths, the Tamil Nadu government has ordered a probe to check for these missing deaths and verify if there is any discrepancy. 

        The death register maintained by the Greater Chennai Corporation has added these deaths and cases.

        New Cases Harder To Track: South Korea Health Workers

        South Korean health workers and health officials have stated that newer cases are becoming harder to track as people are not following social distancing norms and are now moving out in the open. 

        South Korea reported 45 new cases on Wednesday and has been reporting 30-50 cases daily since May. The country has reported 11,947 cases and 276 deaths.

        Nepal Claims 85% Of Its Cases Exported From India

        On Wednesday, Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli claimed that around 85% of the cases in the country were found in people who had returned from India. 

        Province No. 2 situated in Southern Nepal that borders India has the highest number of cases in the country.

        Andhra Temple Tests 150 People After Priest Tests Positive

        On June 10, a priest at Srikalahasti temple in Andhra Pradesh tested positive for COVID-19 leading to the temple deferring its reopening. The district officials and the temple then collected over 150 samples from other temple priests and other staff, shopkeepers on the temple street, as well as the executive officer of the temple.
