        Gap Between Recoveries and Active Cases Crosses 1 Lakh

        The Union Health Ministry said on Sunday that the gap between recoveries and active cases of Covid-19 in India has crossed 1 lakh, as the number of confirmed cases rise to 5.3 lakh.

        A total of 3,09,712 patients have already recovered from COVID-19, with there are 2,03,051 active cases currently. Furthermore, 13,832 recoveries have been reported in the past 24 hours.

        The ministry also added that the current recovery rate was at 58.56%.

        Global COVID-19 Case Count Soars Past 10 Crore Mark

        The global COVID-19 case count has crossed the 10 Crore mark while the death toll has crossed the 5 lakh mark. The total case count stands at 10,082,618 while the death toll stands at 5,01,309.

        India's COVID-19 Death Toll Crosses 16k Mark

        According to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India's death toll crossed the 16k mark in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 16,095 after 410 patients succumbed to the disease.

        India reported a record one-day for consecutive days as 19,906 patients tested positive for COVID-19 to take the total case count to 5,28,859.

        Kerala Suspends Sunday Lockdown; Night Curfews To Continue

        The Kerala government announced the suspension of the Sunday lockdown in an order released today. Night curfew from 9pm to 5am will still be imposed on all days. As of June 26, Kerala has reported 3,876 COVID-19 cases and 22 deaths.

        India To Use Dexamethasone For Moderate To Severe Cases

        The Union Health Ministry has updated its clinical management protocols for COVID-19 to include Dexamethasone as an alternative to methylprednisolone for moderate and severe cases. 

        Dexamethasone, a corticosteroid will be used on patients requiring oxygen support. This drug showed positive results in the clinical trials conducted by RECOVERY Trials in UK. It reduced mortality by one-third in ventilated patients.

        India's Total COVID-19 Cases Cross 5 Lakh Mark

        India's total COVID-19 case count crossed the five lakh mark after a record one-day spike saw 18,552 new cases being reported. The total case count stands at 5,08,953 of which the number of active cases is 1,97,387 while 2,95,880 patients have been discharged so far.

        384 patients died due to the disease as the death toll rose to 15,685.

        Maharashtra Records Over 5000 Cases For The First Time

        On Friday, Maharashtra reported more than 5000 cases for the first time since the first case was detected on March 9 taking the total number of cases to 1,52,765. The state reported 175 new deaths, 91 of which occurred in the last 48 hours while 84 are from the previous period. 

        The state's fatality rate stands at 4.65% which is higher than the national average. The Mumbai Metropolitan region saw a decrease in cases while the Pune belt had 500 cases more than yesterday.

        UP Releases Nearly 18,000 Prisoners On Parole

        The Uttar Pradesh government has released 17,963 prisoners on parole which amounts to 17% of the total prison population in UP reports PTI. The Supreme Court had earlier directed state governments to release prisoners serving less than seven years of imprisonment on parole.

        International Flights To Remain Suspended Till July 15

        The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has said that international flight operations will remain suspended in India till July 15. However, international flight can be allowed to operate on select routes on a case to case basis.

        Barber Shops, Salons To Reopen In Maharashtra

        As part of Phase IV of Maharashtra's Mission Begin Again campaign, barber shops, salons and beauty parlours will be allowed to resume operations with restrictions. Patrons will have to book an appointment beforehand and only select services like hair cut, dyeing hair, waxing and threading will be provided.

        Employees have to wear gloves, aprons and masks. Chair have to be sanitised after every patron while the premises have to be sanitised every two hours. Dispolsable napkins and towels have to be used on patrons while non-disposable tools have to be sterlised after every service.
