        India's COVID-19 Death Toll Crosses 45,000

        India's COVID-19 death toll crossed the 45,000 mark after 871 patients died over the last 24 hours taking the toll to 45,257. The total case count stands at 22,68,675 after 53,601 people tested positive for COVID-19. The number of active cases stands at 6,39,929 while 15,83,489 patients have been cured or discharged so far.

        Railways Tweets About Viral Train Suspension Circular

        The Ministry of Railways said it has not issued any new circular announcing suspension of trains till September 30. In a tweet it shared that special mail express trains will continue to run. The Ministry suspended train operations till August 12 and has not issued any further instructions, so far. 


        Some section of media is reporting that Railways has cancelled all regular trains till 30th September. This is not correct. No new circular has been issued by Ministry of Railways.

        Special Mail Express trains shall continue to run.

        No Quarantine For Air Passengers Visiting Assam For 72 Hours

        Air travellers visiting Assam for less than 72 hours will not have to undergo the mandatory quarantine measures if their rapid antigen test reports are negative for COVID-19, a state order says. 

        Passengers will also have to show their returning tickets to prove that they would be leaving the state in a period of 72 hours. Their swabs will be collected at the airport and if they test positive they will have to follow isolation and treatment measures.

        Sixth Indian Hockey Player Tests Positive

        Mandeep Singh is the sixth national hockey player to have tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the national camp that is scheduled to begin from August 20 in Bengaluru. The other players that include the captain Manpreet Singh are all being treated by doctors. 

        Mandeep is currently asymptomatic.

        743 Employees At Tirupati Have Tested Positive

        Since its reopening on June 11, 743 employees at the Tirumala  Tirupati Devasthanams have tested positive for COVID-19 and three have succumbed to the disease. Priests as well as regular and outsourced workers from the special protection force, vigilance department, sanitation workers have tested positive. Almost 402 have recovered while 338 are still undergoing treatment.

        Former President Pranab Mukherjee Tests Positive For COVID-19

        Former President Pranab Mukherjee has tested positive for COVID-19, he announced on Twitter. Mukherjee said he tested positive after going to the hospital for a separate procedure and has asked everyone who have been in contact with him to self-isolate and get tested for COVID-19. Mukherjee is the latest among high-profile politicians to contract the disease after Home Minister Amit Shah, MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa.

        On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID19 today.

        India Reports 1,007 COVID-19 Deaths In Last 24 Hours

        India recorded 1,007 COVID-19 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 44,386. The country has also reported a daily rise of 60,000+ for the fourth day in a row after 62,064 people tested positive for the disease. Of the 22,15,074 total cases, 6,34,945 are active cases while 15,35,743 patients have been cured or discharged so far.

        Karnataka Health Minister Tests Positive

        After the CM and leader of Opposition, Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu has tested positive for COVID-19. In a string of tweets, he announced that he had been hospitalized in a government hospital and has requested people who came in contact with him to take precautionary quarantine measures.

        MHA Says Amit Shah's Tests Not Conducted So Far

        Refuting BJP MP Manoj Tiwary's claim that Amit Shah has tested negative for COVID-19, the MHA told ANI that Amit Shah has not been re-tested yet. 

        Tiwary has now deleted his tweet wherein he said that the Home Minister has tested negative for COVID-19

        BJP Delhi MP Says Amit Shah Tests Negative

        BJP Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari has tweeted that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has recovered from COVID-19 after his test reports came negative.There is no comment on the same from the Home Ministry, thus far. 

        Shah tested positive for COVID-19 on August 2, 2020.
