      Coronavirus LIVE Update: India's Cases Rise To 59,92,532; 94,503 Dead

      Live updates about the Coronavirus, COVID-19, statistics and death toll: COVID-19, the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus which emerged from China in December 2019 has now spread across the world.

      India has officially confirmed ‭ 59,92,532 cases with 94,503 deaths till September 27, 2020.

        India Reported 693 New Cases, 30 New Deaths In 24 Hours

        The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in a press conference stated that in the last 24 hours, India reported around 693 new cases and 30 deaths. 

        The Ministry also shared the profiling of the existing cases. From the existing 4067 cases, 76% are males and 24% females. Forty seven percent of the cases are below the age of 40, 34% between 40-60 and the remaining 19% are over 60 years of age. 

        The ministry further stated that from the 109 deaths, 73% were males while 27% were females. The 60+ category amounted for the highest number of deaths. Sixty three percent of the deaths were older than 60 years of age, 7% came from the younger than 40 category while 30% came from the 40-60 age. 

        Eighty six percent of the deaths are due to pre-existing morbidities. The ministry emphasized that the deaths with morbidities also showcased that the younger population with comorbidities had also died due to the virus.

        Ireland's Prime Minister Leo Varadkar has reregistered as a doctor to fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

        Ireland has registered 4,994 cases of COVID-19 so far.

        USAID Announces $2.9 Million Aid To India

        The US Agency for International Development (USAID) has announced a $2.9 million assistance to India to tackle COVID-19. 

        The new funds will support two organizations: $2.4 million for USAID's health strengthening project, implemented by Jhpiego, an international non-profit health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, and $500,000 for the World Health Organization.

        Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP Report New Deaths

        Gujarat reported a new death in Vadodara. A 62- year-old woman succumbed to the virus with other pre-existing morbidities. This was the 12th casualty reported by the state. 

        Bhopal reported its first casualty taking Madhya Pradesh's total deaths to 14 while Rajasthan reported a new death in Kota.

        Cases On The Rise In States

        Many states are reporting newer cases of COVID-19. 

        Maharashtra reported 33 new cases taking the total number of cases in the state to 781. Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan reported newer cases taking their respective  totals to 266,144 and 274.

        ICMR To Get More Antibody Testing Kits

        The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is going to receive more antibody testing kits by April 8. These 7 lakh testing kits will assist in increasing the country's capacity to test cases in areas considered to be hotspots.

        Tiger In New York Tests Positive For COVID-19

        A four-year-old tiger at New York's Bronx Zoo has tested positive for COVID-19. The tiger was believed to be have been infected by a zoo employee who was earlier asymptomatic before testing positive for the virus. 

        Six other tigers and lions have also fallen ill at the zoo.

        Deaths Reported By Italy, Spain On The Decline

        Italy on Sunday reported 525 deaths in 24 hours, its lowest death rate in the last 24 hours. Researchers believe that this could be an early indication that Europe's worst-hit country may have crossed the peak of the disease. However, the situation is to still be monitored. 

        Meanwhile, Spain recorded another 674 deaths, its lowest daily rise in percentage terms since early March.

        UK PM Hospitalised

        Boris Johnson who had tested positive for coronavirus on March 26 has been hospitalized.

        Downing St. says the hospitalization is a "precautionary step" and he remains in charge of the government. Johnson, 55, is still exhibiting symptoms of the virus according to his team.

        India Crosses 4000 Cases, 100 Deaths

        The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported 490 new cases and 26 new deaths. The country's total number of cases and deaths stand at 4067 and 109 respectively as of 9 AM on April 6, 2020. 

        The biggest spike in the cases and deaths was seen in Maharashtra. The state reported 200 new cases. It currently has 690 comfirmed cases and 45 deaths. 

        Rajasthan, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu were other states which reported a major increase in cases.
