6 April 2020 5:00 PM ISTThe Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in a press conference stated that in the last 24 hours, India reported around 693 new cases and 30 deaths.
The Ministry also shared the profiling of the existing cases. From the existing 4067 cases, 76% are males and 24% females. Forty seven percent of the cases are below the age of 40, 34% between 40-60 and the remaining 19% are over 60 years of age.
The ministry further stated that from the 109 deaths, 73% were males while 27% were females. The 60+ category amounted for the highest number of deaths. Sixty three percent of the deaths were older than 60 years of age, 7% came from the younger than 40 category while 30% came from the 40-60 age.
Eighty six percent of the deaths are due to pre-existing morbidities. The ministry emphasized that the deaths with morbidities also showcased that the younger population with comorbidities had also died due to the virus.
