BOOM found no teleprompter in front of Modi in the original video of his walk with the Australian Prime Minister at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium on July 9, 2026.
Modi's three nation Indo-Pacific tour of Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand was followed by questions to MEA officials over the absence of a press conference with New Zealand journalists. An MEA official replied that India's electorate is predominantly rural and does not like leaders speaking through intermediaries. The statement renewed criticism of Modi's absence from press conferences during his tenure and brought back claims about his use of teleprompters during speeches.

What We Found: Viral Video Is Digitally Altered
Original Video From Melbourne: BOOM ran a relevant keyword search and found the original livestream of the community event held at Australia's Marvel Stadium on July 9, 2026, which was attended by Modi. The livestream on PMO India's official YouTube channel contains the exact sequence of Modi walking with Albanese on the red carpet inside the stadium. The footage appears between 5:06 and 5:34 minute time stamp.
However, we found no teleprompter moving in front of Modi as he walked inside the stadium, contrary to what is shown in the viral footage.
