Unrelated Visuals Shared As Glimpses Of Bangladeshi Couple Executed In Saudi Arabia
BOOM found that the visuals have no connection to the Bangladeshi couple executed in Saudi Arabia.

Several photos and videos are being shared online with the false claim that they show a Bangladeshi couple who were sentenced to death in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on October 14, 2026, for an alleged “indecent act.”
BOOM found that the visuals are old, unrelated and have no connection to the Bangladeshi couple executed in Saudi Arabia.
On October 15, Gulf News reported that Saudi Arabia had executed two Bangladeshi nationals, a man and a woman, over allegations that they committed indecent acts inside a mosque in Mecca. The report stated that the couple were sentenced to death under ta’zir, a form of discretionary punishment under Islamic law. Following public outrage over the incident, Bangladeshi authorities said they had received no prior notification about the execution of two nationals in Mecca.
The Indian Express reported that Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry did not specify the alleged act, the mosque where it took place, or when the two individuals were arrested.
Since then, several unrelated visuals have been shared online as images of the Bangladeshi couple executed in Saudi Arabia.
Claim 1: Video shows Saudi Arabia killing a Bangladeshi couple for kissing in a mosque in Mecca
The video was shared by multiple social media accounts, garnering thousands of views, with claims that it shows Saudi Arabian authorities executing the Bangladeshi couple on October 14.
Warning: The video contains graphic content. Viewer discretion is advised.
However, BOOM traced the video to multiple news reports published in 2015, which stated that it showed the beheading of a Burmese woman named Laila Bin Abdul Muttalib Basim, who lived in Saudi Arabia.
The New York Times reported that a man was arrested for filming the public beheading at the time.
Claim 2: Photo shows Bangladeshi couple who got executed after husband kissed his pregnant wife’s belly inside Mecca mosque
X accounts, along with news outlets such as NewsX Live, shared the photo, identifying the couple as the Bangladeshi nationals recently executed in Saudi Arabia.
BOOM identified the couple in the photo as blogger Gehad Elbana and her husband, Ramzy Mahmoud, who shared the photos in December 2024. An Egyptian news report stated that the couple had conducted the photoshoot in front of the Kaaba, where Albana had prayed for a child a year earlier.
The post shared by Albana and Mahmoud in 2024, featuring the photos, can be seen below.
Claim 3: Video shows the daughter of the executed Bangladeshi couple placing soil on her parents’ graves
BOOM found that the video was recorded before the reported execution of the Bangladeshi couple in Saudi Arabia on October 14, 2026. We found a post dated May 26, 2026, shared by a local Bangladeshi pages, carrying the same video and claiming to show a girl placing soil on her father's grave.
The post confirms that the video is unrelated to the recent execution.
Claim 4: Video shows Bangladeshi couple kissing in public before being beheaded in Saudi Arabia
BOOM found that the video was posted by vlogger Khadija Belgoum on August 7, 2026, alongside her husband, Billy Rahman. In the post, Belgoum stated that she revealed her pregnancy to her husband in Mecca as a gift and to capture his reaction.
Belgoum also debunked the false claims linking their videos to the executed Bangladeshi couple through a series of Instagram Stories after the visuals went viral online.
