An unrelated video of a forest fire in Leh, Ladakh, is being falsely shared online as footage of insurgents attacking an Assam Rifles camp in Manipur.
BOOM found that this video is from an unrelated forest fire in Leh from May 2, 2026.
Manipur has been engulfed in violence for over three years now. The ethnic conflict between the predominantly Hindu Meitei community and the mainly Christian Kuki-Zo minority, has claimed around 250 lives and displaced tens of thousands of people. Over 40,000 security personnel, including the Army, Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, have been deployed in the area to quell the violence.

The video is being shared on X with the caption claiming that "Manipur fighters" attacked a new Assam Rifles camp in the state.

What we found:
1) Video from Ladakh
BOOM ran a reverse image search and found the same video, which was posted by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police’s (ITBP) X handle on May 2, 2026.
The caption of the post stated that ITBP responded to a forest fire in Leh at 1:00 pm on May 2. ITBP had worked alongside the Leh's Fire Department to contain the fire.
2) News Reports on the incident
BOOM found news reports that corroborate this incident. Local outlets, including J&K 24/7 and Ladakh Today, carried video reports about the incident.
Additionally, ANI posted a video statement by the Deputy Director of the Fire Department about the incident.
We also did not find any recent credible news reports on any Assam Rifles camp being attacked in Manipur.
