Photos Of Minors Mourning Dads Loss In Bangladesh Viral With False Claim

An image of two minors from Bangladesh is being shared by pro-Hindu X accounts with false claims that they lost their father in a communal attack. One among them can be seen wearing the dhara, worn by Bengali Hindus during the mourning period after a parental loss.

BOOM Bangladesh spoke to a family member of the minors who refuted the viral communal claim and informed that their father passed away due to complications from a brain stroke.

      The Claim

The X handle Voice Of Bangladeshi Hindus posted the photograph with the caption, “In Rangpur, They lost their father in a communal attack. For this, we as a Hindu community are responsible. Because we Hindus continue to endure oppression in silence, they are committing one barbarity after another.”

What We Found: Family member confirms no communal attack

BOOM ran a reverse image search on the photograph and found a post from August 6, 2025 on a Facebook page 'Bong Bonding'. According to the caption, the photograph was posted to raise funds online for supporting two children and conduct the last rites of their late father Bikash Das, a barber by profession.

The Facebook page also uploaded a video on August 15, 2025, where they can be seen transferring the collected amount to the children in presence of their maternal and paternal grandfathers. BOOM Bangladesh reached out to a family member of Das who debunked the communal claim. Anik Sarkar Bisu, a cousin, told BOOM Bangladesh, “Bikash Chandra Das, father of the children in the viral picture, passed away due to complications from a brain stroke. He was not attacked because of communal reasons.”
