Two videos are being circulated on social media to build a false pro-police narrative around the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest on July 20, 2026. The first shows people holding 'We Support Delhi Police' placards as evidence of public backing for the force; the second is being shared approvingly as footage of a police officer snatching a Palestinian flag from a Muslim woman at the demonstration.
BOOM found that both these videos predate the CJP protest and are unrelated to the movement.
On July 20, a large number of protesters marched from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged paper leaks. The police reportedly used tear gas shells and lathicharged protestors, preventing them from reaching Parliament.
