Old Videos Falsely Shared As Recent CJP Protests

Three old and unrelated videos are being falsely shared on social media as visuals from the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) protest march to Parliament in Delhi on July 20, 2026. The clips show police action against protesters, a car being set ablaze, and a group of Nihang Sikhs breaking barricades.

BOOM found that all three viral videos predate the demonstration and are unrelated to the ongoing CJP protests.

The CJP had organised the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged paper leaks. Delhi Police and Rapid Action Force personnel reportedly used lathis and tear gas, preventing protestors from reaching Parliament.

Claim 1: Video of Delhi Police hitting CJP protestors
A 51-second video showing police hitting protesters sitting on the road is being shared on social media, praising the Delhi Police for their action against CJP protestors.

      What We Found:
A reverse image search traced the viral video to a post from Hindi news outlet Punjab Kesari dated 26 December, 2024, with a caption identifying the location as Bihar.

News outlets reported that Bihar Police lathi-charged protesters who gathered to protest against the irregularities in the conduct of the 70th CCE prelims exam on December 24, 2024.

Claim 2: Muslim CJP supporter sets a car on fire
The 37-second video is being shared on social media claiming that a Muslim man set a car on fire amid the CJP protests.

A keyword search led to a Dainik Bhaskar report, also from July 17, which said a Thar vehicle collided with a motorcycle and a rickshaw in Gaya. An angry mob broke the vehicle's windshield and attempted to set it on fire before police arrived and dispersed the crowd.

Claim 3: Nihang Sikhs Broke Police Barricades During CJP Protest
The 24-second video is being shared claiming Nihang Sikhs arrived to show their support for CJP supporters and broke the barricades at Jantar Mantar.

      What We Found:
A reverse image search traced the video to a post dated June 26, which identified the location as Uttarakhand. We ran a keyword search that led us to reports of a standoff between Nihang Sikhs and the police in Kulhal, Dehradun. The protesters were demanding the release of four Nihang Sikhs arrested following a dispute with local residents.
