Old Farmers Protest Video Falsely Shared As Fatalities From October 10 Protest
BOOM found that the video is from the 'Delhi Chalo' march by the farmers on February 21, 2024 when security forces fired tear gas shells at the Shambu border.

A video showing a group of men running as shots are heard is being falsely shared as footage from the October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar by the Cockroach Janta Party and allied opposition groups demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
BOOM found that the video is from the 'Delhi Chalo' march by the farmers on February 21, 2024 when security forces fired tear gas shells at the Shambu border.
Delhi was on high alert ahead of the October 10 protests, with heavy security and police presence, 57 metro stations closed, and several trains halted. On the day, authorities detained CJP members, a large number of protesters, and several journalists. BOOM is covering the protests on the ground, and updates are available on our Instagram handle.
The Claim:
The 14-second video is being shared on social media with a false claim that 13 people were killed during the October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar.

What we found:
1) Old video from the Farmers Protest in 2024: A reverse image search traced the video to a post from news outlet PTI's X account dated February 21, 2024. Security forces fired tear gas shells in the Shambu border area at farmers who were marching to Delhi.
2) Delhi Police issues statement calling the claim fake: The Delhi Police issued a statement on X debunking the claim and said it was not related to the recent protest or Delhi Police.
3) No news reports of fatalities on October 10, 2026: We could not find any credible news reports of any fatalities from the October 10 protests.
