BOOM found that Modi said "wheat producer" in the address and made no mention of beef, contrary to what is being claimed in viral posts.
The Indian prime minister concluded a two-day official visit to Auckland, New Zealand marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 40 years.
The claim is being shared against the backdrop of a longstanding political controversy around cattle slaughter and beef consumption, issues frequently raised by PM Modi and the BJP, with several BJP-ruled states restricting or prohibiting the slaughter of cows. India remains among the world's largest exporters of buffalo meat, which is often categorized as "beef" in international trade.

We watched the original speech delivered by Modi at an Indian community event in Auckland, New Zealand on July 11, 2026, that was streamed live on PMO India's official YouTube channel.
At the 1.01.22 minutes timestamp in the speech we can hear Modi clearly state that India is the second largest producer of wheat in the world.
2) Media reports
We also checked media reports on Modi’s speech and found that they quoted him referring to wheat production, not beef production.
