A video showing Bangladesh Army personnel detaining two men for vandalising a shop in 2024 has surfaced with false claims that it shows Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) stopping All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers.
The first phase of voting in West Bengal is scheduled for April 23, followed by the second phase on April 29, with counting set for May 4.

The video is being shared with claims that the attackers are TMC workers and were stopped by the CRPF.

What We Found:
1) Video From Bangladesh
We broke the video into keyframes and ran a reverse image search using Google Lens; results showed the video was reported in 2024 by Bangladesh news outlets.
The video was posted on August 17, 2024, on YouTube by Dhaka Post. The caption when translated to English reads, "In Boalmari, Faridpur, the army detained two individuals after a clash between two factions of the BNP, while activists from one side were vandalising shops belonging to the opposing side.”
We also found the same video was reported by Bangladeshi news outlets including Independent Television and Kalbela News.
According to reports, the incident took place on August 14, 2024, in Boalmari in Faridpur district, Bangladesh. The attack was reported to be a clash between two factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), with workers from one faction targeting the shop of another.
The accused seen vandalising the shop were arrested and identified as BNP youth activists Mohammad Tutul Hossain and Dukhu Mia.
