Fake Gaurav Bhatia Quote On Swatantra Bhardwaj Shared By CJP Leaders
BOOM found that the quote attributed to Gaurav Bhatia is fabricated and that NBT Hindi News, whose graphic was used to spread the claim, has also rubbished it as fake.
Cockroach Janta Party spokespersons, including Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, shared a fake NBT News graphic carrying a fabricated quote attributed to Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia. The quote claimed that Bhatia had called Hindutva extremist Swatantra Bhardwaj a “dimaagi Naxal” and said he had no association with the BJP.
The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed a habeas corpus petition filed by Bhardwaj challenging his arrest by the Delhi Police in connection with the alleged assault on the father of a student activist during a Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar in July.
The Claim:
Das had tweeted a graphic purportedly from NBT News which, when translated into English, read, “A young man named Swatantra Bhardwaj is a dimaagi Naxal. He is filled with casteist venom and has nothing to do with the BJP government. - Gaurav Bhatia.”. Das tweet was quote tweeted by Ranka. Das later deleted his tweet stating that he was told it is 'AI-generated'.
