An edited image of Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijit Dipke is circulating on social media, falsely claiming he has gained weight while Ladakh climate activist Sonam Wangchuk fasts at Jantar Mantar.
BOOM found that the image was digitally altered and sourced from CJP protest footage from June 6, 2026.
The CJP has been holding nationwide protests since June 6, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the CBSE and NEET examinations. On June 28, Wangchuk began an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, Delhi.
The Claim:
The viral photo is being shared on social media with captions mocking Dipke for allegedly gaining 10 kg while Wangchuk lost 12 kg due to fasting.

What We Found:
1) Video of Dipke from June 6, 2026
A reverse image search traced it to this post from June 6,2026 which predates Wagnuk's hunger strike. The viral image has been taken from the 0.01 mark and edited. The people visible in the background also match those seen in the original video.
We also looked at recent video reports featuring Dipke at Jantar Mantar, and he does not have an enlarged midsection, unlike the viral photo.
