Want To Donate To Türkiye, Syria? Heres Where You Can

The Türkiye-Syria earthquake has not only claimed thousands of lives but also left thousands of others homeless and displaced. The earthquake has had a severe impact on the infrastructure in the affected areas as people deal with a harsh winter.

While rescue teams and aid were rushed to the two countries from around the world after the 7.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Türkiye and Syria on February 6, rescuers continue to carry out search operations. The death toll has crossed 21,000 and is likely to rise.

Both countries have appealed for donations and aid through their embassies in India.

Here is a list of credible places to make donations for the survivors of the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria.

The Embassy of Syrian Arab Republic

The Syrian Embassy in India shared an appeal on its Facebook page for donations from India, on Thursday. The fundraising appeal intends to "support devastated families and alleviate their sufferings". Boom verified this information from the Embassy. "People can either donate to the bank account mentioned in the appeal or directly to the Embassy against a receipt", the Embassy confirmed.

Embassy of the Republic of Turkey

The Turkish Embassy in New Delhi tweeted a thread asking for donations from volunteers. "Volunteers who are willing to send in-kind assistance to people in earthquake-hit areas of Türkiye, kindly refer to the announcements 👇." It said such donations can be made in the embassies in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru as well.

The embassy listed out things that could be donated in the embassy at Delhi's Chanakyapuri or other locations mentioned on Twitter.

      UNICEF

The agency of the United Nations responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide has also started a fundraiser for the survivors, in the wake of the major earthquake. UNICEF is working on the grounds, catering to the families and children devastated by the earthquake.

The network is also working on the ground providing blood, food, shelter, medical care, emergency aid supplies and mental and emotional support to people in need. It is accepting funds for rescue operations here.

      Council on Foundations

As a response to the conditions in Turkey and Syria, the Council on Foundations has also curated a list of suggested organizations, including several local organizations.

      Save The Children

The organization is working on the ground and supporting the affected communities with winterization and emergency kits, including blankets and winter clothing.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is dedicated to saving lives, defending rights, and constructing a better future for refugees, internally displaced people, and stateless people. The agency is working on the ground with emergency items including tents, blankets, and hygiene items.
