A video of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is being shared on social media with the misleading claim that during an interview she admitted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won elections by rigging Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
BOOM watched the original NDTV India interview and found that Gupta was questioning Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, countering his allegations against her party. She asked rhetorically that if the BJP’s win is being called EVM hacking now, then were Congress governments over the past 70 years also the result of rigged elections?
The Claim: Video shows Delhi CM Rekha Gupta saying, "They had been hacking EVMs for 70 years, but when we did it, suddenly it became a problem."

What We Found:
1) Original NDTV Interview
We checked the original 8.19-minute NDTV India interview segment of CM Gupta and found that the viral video cuts off before her next statement where she questions the opposition and counters the allegation that the BJP is rigging EVMs.
In the original NDTV India interview at the 2:40 mark, she says “When they (Congress) win, it is people’s mandate. When we (BJP) win, it is EVM hacking. Can someone tell me in which book this formula is written? From where has Rahul Gandhi studied this? A perception is being created by swaying the innocent public, aside from that does he know anything?”
The second part of her answer is missing in the viral video to make the misleading claim that she is admitting to allegations of EVM rigging.
