A video of a man being assaulted in Aligarh is being shared with the false claim that it shows a Muslim youth being beaten by Hindutva activists. BOOM found that the claim is false, with Aligarh Police confirming that the incident had no communal angle.
The Claim:
The video is being shared on X claiming that it shows a Muslim youth being beaten by Hindutva activists in Aligarh. The post further alleges that when a woman tried to intervene and rescue him, she too was assaulted by the attackers.

What We Found:
1) News reports on incidentWe found several news reports on the incident including a report by Dainik Bhaskar, which stated that the assault took place at Numaish Ground in Aligarh’s Bannadevi police station on June 2, 2026.
Amar Ujala identified the victim as Sonu. According to the report, Sonu had gone to Mangal Bazar at Numaish Ground with a friend when, during a conversation with an acquaintance, some people allegedly began abusing and assaulting him. Police have arrested three accused in connection with the case.
2) Aligarh Police X Post On Incident
Aligarh Police posted about the incident on X and shared a video byte of Circle Officer II Dhananjay. In the byte, he stated that the young man was assaulted by the girl’s family members as they were angry that the girl was roaming with the boy.
3) Aligarh Police denies communal claim
BOOM reached out to CO Dhananjay who denied any communal angle to incident.
Additionally, BOOM checked the FIR registered in the case, which identifies the victim as Sonu, son of Harish Kumar. The FIR also names the accused as Ankur, Ashish and Akash.
