Amid the ongoing nationwide student protest led by the satirical outfit Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), several deepfake videos falsely depicting Union Ministers and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders issuing threats against CJP protesters are being widely circulated on social media.

BOOM traced the videos to the pro-Pakistan handle @InsiderWB, which has previously been found orchestrating a major disinformation campaign targeting Indian government officials.

On several occasions linked to major developments affecting India's political landscape, including Operation Sindoor and the US-Iran war, the verified X handle @InsiderWB circulated deepfake videos falsely depicting Indian ministers, defence officials, opposition leaders, and journalists. Many of the deepfake videos garnered millions of views and were further amplified by prominent Pakistani personalities.

Claim 1: Union Minister Piyush Goyal Says the Government Will Hang 2-3 CJP Supporters to Teach a Lesson

In the video, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal appears to threaten CJP protesters, saying that two or three of them should be hanged to set an example and deter others from protesting against the government.

A reverse image search of keyframes extracted from the video led us to the original report published by news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) on July 23, 2026. In the original video, Goyal is heard referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of fast-track courts to ensure swift action against those involved in examination paper leaks.

We also analysed the audio using the AI audio detection tool Resemble AI, which identified it as AI-generated.

Claim 2: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey Says CJP Protesters Will Not Get Government or Private Jobs

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey is heard in the video saying that the government will ensure CJP protesters are blacklisted, denied employment in both the government and private sectors, and that their parents will be jailed without any warrant.

However, BOOM traced the original video to a report published by news agency IANS on July 24, 2026. In the original clip, Dubey can be beard addressing students, saying that Jantar Mantar is not the place for them. He also refers to the 1975 student movement, noting that many students who participated in the agitation were unable to become doctors or engineers for two years.

A test of the viral video's audio using the AI detection tool Resemble AI detected signs of manipulation and identified the audio as AI-generated.

Claim 3: Union Health Minister JP Nadda Says CJP Protesters Will Be Arrested and Given Life Imprisonment

The viral video purportedly shows Union Health Minister JP Nadda saying that CJP supporters will not be spared for creating unrest on the streets and that the government will take strict action against them by sending them to jail.

We traced the original video to a post published by news agency ANI on its official X handle on July 22, 2026. In the original clip, Nadda says the government is ready to hold discussions on the paper leak issue and urges the opposition not to shift the goalposts. He also says the focus should be on resolving the issue, adding that Parliament is the most appropriate forum for such discussions.

Furthermore, we analysed the purported audio of Union Minister JP Nadda using the AI detection tool Resemble AI, which identified the audio as AI-generated.
