A disturbing video showing a woman being manhandled in Mexico and her mask being forcibly removed has surfaced with claims falsely linking it to the Cockroach Janata Party protest in Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
BOOM found that the video is from June 27, 2026, during a FIFA fan fest in Mexico and is unrelated to the CJP movement.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan submitted his resignation on July 25, following which CJP called off its five-week long nationwide protest.
The Claim:
The video shows visuals of a woman's mask being forcefully removed as she is touched inappropriately and groped. She later tries to hide her face. It is being shared to allege that CJP protesters are not students affected by the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) paper leak.
What We Found:
1) Original video from June 27, 2026
A reverse image search traced the video to a TikTok post dated June 27, 2026. The video has been captioned in Spanish as "When your identity is revealed."
2) Video is from FIFA Fan Fest in Mexico City
Taking this as a cue, we found a Facebook post which stated that the video is from a FIFA Fan Fest in Mexico. We then ran a keyword search and found reports from local Mexican outlets about an incident in which fans climbed onto the roofs of bus shelters after Mexico's match against South Korea on June 19, 2026 for the FIFA World Cup. The location of this incident matches with visuals from the viral video. We were able to geolocate the Metrobus station on Paseo de la Reforma Avenue and found that both the events took place at the same location.
