Mass Beaching: 24 Pilot Whales Die In The Shallow Water of Gulf Of Mexico

Mexican authorities struggled for 15 hours to rescue over two dozen short-finned pilot whales that had beached themselves near San Felipe, in Mexico’s Baja California region. The authorities managed to save just three as 24 whales died despite the effort to direct them to deeper waters.
