The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is the apex body of the Government of India for formulating and administering policies related to health and family welfare in India. The Ministry is headed by a cabinet minister with a Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare. The ministry is responsible for overseeing the functioning of the health and family welfare systems in India. It is also responsible for formulating and implementing the National Health Policy and National Health Mission. The Ministry works in collaboration with various other ministries and departments such as Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Ministry of Rural Development, and Ministry of Science and Technology. It also works in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international organizations in areas of health to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. The Ministry is working towards improving the health and well-being of the citizens of India through various initiatives such as immunization, health insurance, health services, and health education. It is also involved in implementing various programs and schemes like the National Health Mission and the Integrated Child Development Services. The Ministry also provides technical and financial assistance to state governments for the development of health infrastructure and other health related activities.
