Video Of Effigy Burning Stunt Gone Wrong Revived With A False Claim

Claim

Karnataka Congress workers were trying to burn an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi when five workers' lungis caught fire.

Fact

This video dates back to July 2012 and shows Kerala Students Union (KSU) activists getting their lungis burnt while setting aflame an effigy of Mahatma Gandhi University’s Vice-Chancellor. BOOM had previously fact-checked this video in April 2018 when it had gone viral as Karnataka Congress workers burning an effigy of PM Modi.
