A black and white photograph of a toddler with his mother is viral on social media with the claim that it is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's childhood photograph along with his mother Heeraben Modi.
BOOM received the above photo on its WhatsApp helpline number (7700906111) inquiring if it was indeed Modi.

The photo was also shared on Facebook with the caption, "Narendra Modi's childhood photo with his Mother!"
The Hindi text reads, "This is the child, who shook 132 crore people, Narendra Modi with his mother"
"यही है वो बच्चा , जिससने 132 करोड लोगोंको हिलाकर रखदिया नरेन्द्र मोदी अपनी माँ हिराबेन के साथ"

FACT-CHECK
The same photograph went viral in 2016 on Facebook with the misleading claim.
BOOM performed a Google reverse image search which threw up several news articles that identified the toddler as Former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam with his mother Ashiamma Jainulabiddin.
According to an India Today article dated May 8, 2016, titled '20 proud mothers of famous Indians on Mother's Day', the same photo is used and stating that it is a childhood photo of former President Kalam.
Another article titled 'APJ Abdul Kalam death anniversary: 10 unknown facts about Missile Man' by Jagran Josh dated July 27, 2018, has the complete family photo identifying Former President Kalam.
BOOM could not independently verify if the photograph or the source of its origins.
This misleading claim with the photograph had been earlier debunked by Aaj Tak and BBC Hindi.
