LIVE: BJP Led NDA Cross The Half-Way Mark

By - BOOM FACT Check Team | 22 May 2019 1:39 PM GMT

The counting of votes in the Lok Sabha election of the world’s largest democracy is underway, with the incumbent BJP led NDA likely to form the next government. At 9:30 am, the BJP coalition has already crossed the half-way mark with leads in over 300 seats while the Congress led UPA leading in over 110 seats. This is largely in line with the exit polls conducted by several news channels that predicted a comfortable victory for the NDA. The seven-phased election witnessed a tough and bitter campaign with the political discourse witnessing an all-time low. The Election Commission also came under the scanner with allegations of EVM tampering and questions being raised on the security of the machines ahead of the counting on Thursday.

The EC has said that a 24-hour EVM Control Room has also been made functional at Nirvachan Sadan to monitor complaints relating to polled EVMs.

We will be tracking all the voting results, the key winners, losers and the political combination that will form the next government. Watch this space.
