An unrelated video from a March 2026 attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Oman is being falsely shared as footage of the recent U.S strike on the commercial vessel MT Settebello in the Gulf of Oman on June 10, 2026.

24 Indians were aboard Settebello, of whom 21 were rescued, and three were killed, confirmed Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on June 11.

In total, three commercial vessels (MT Marivex, MT Settebello, MT Jalveer) with Indian crew have been struck by US Navy strikes in the last four days.

The Claim:
The video was shared claiming that it is from the attack on MT Settebello by USA and Indian nationals were onboard.

What We Found:

1) Original Video from March 2026
At the two-second mark, the name 'Skylight' can be seen on the ship. Taking a hint from this, we ran a keyword search on Google and found this original video posted by Reuters on March 1, 2026.

2) Attack on Oil Tanker 'Skylight'
We found reports that Skylight, a Palau-flagged oil tanker that was US-sanctioned, was struck off the coast of Oman's Musandam peninsula on March 1. 15 Indian nationals were on board, and 2 were killed in this attack.
