Two videos, one showing a group of boys assaulting a man tied to a tree and another of an altercation between a group of people on a road, are being falsely circulated on social media claiming to show mistreatment of Muslims by Hindus in Nepal.
BOOM found that both videos are from Bangladesh and are unrelated to the current communal unrest in Nepal.
The videos have surfaced amid the escalating communal violence in Nepal's Terai-Madhesh, which led to the death of three people. The clashes began after a Hindu procession marching towards Kaptangunj Chowk was allegedly stopped by members of the Muslim community who objected to the playing of loud devotional music. Earlier in the day, Hindus allegedly removed a Muslim flag in the area and replaced it with a Hindu one, which aggravated the conflict.

1) Video traced to Bangladeshi Instagram account
The viral clip carries a watermark of the handle @MD.SOIMUL, who posted the original video on Instagram on July 15, 2026, with a Bangla caption.
2) Location identified via mosque signage
At the 0.06 mark, the name of a mosque, "Dakshin Vinglabari Jame Masjid" is visible in the frame. BOOM geolocated this to Debidwar in Bangladesh's Comilla district.
Claim 2: Video of altercation between Hindus and Muslims in Nepal
The 15-second clip of a group of people attacking another with sticks on a road is being shared on social media claiming that Hindu groups attacked Muslims in Nepal.

A reverse image search led BOOM to video reports by Bangladeshi news outlets from July 4, 2026 about the same visuals.
2) Clash linked to Dhaka protest march
According to news reports, the video shows an attack on a protest march organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in Gulistan against extortion and encroachment. Jamaat accused Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders and activists of carrying out the attack, in which 15-20 people were injured.
