BBC is one of the world’s largest and most respected public service broadcasters. Founded in 1922, the BBC operates under a Royal Charter and is funded primarily through the television license fee paid by UK households. The BBC provides a wide range of television, radio, and online services, including news, entertainment, documentaries, and educational programming.
The BBC is known for its commitment to impartiality, high-quality journalism, and global reach. Its news division, BBC News, is one of the most trusted news sources in the world, delivering news and analysis on a wide range of international and domestic issues. The BBC World Service, which broadcasts in multiple languages, further extends its influence, reaching audiences in over 150 countries.
Over the years, the BBC has been at the forefront of broadcasting innovation, including the early adoption of television, the development of digital radio, and the creation of the BBC iPlayer, a popular streaming service. The organization’s programming spans a wide array of genres, from drama and comedy to natural history and science, with many of its shows enjoying global acclaim.
Despite its prestigious reputation, the BBC has faced challenges and controversies, including accusations of bias, funding debates, and adapting to the rapidly changing media landscape in the digital age. Nonetheless, it remains a cornerstone of British culture and an influential player in global media.
In April 2019, BOOM investigated a viral post claiming that a BBC survey, allegedly conducted in collaboration with the CIA and ISI, predicted a landslide victory for the BJP with more than 323 seats and labeled Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the most popular leader in the country.

BOOM found that this post was entirely fake, with no such survey conducted by the BBC or any other credible organization. The claims were fabricated and misleading.

In December 2018, BOOM investigated a resurfaced fake opinion poll that falsely claimed the BBC had predicted a BJP win in the Rajasthan elections. To make the fake poll appear credible, the creators added a link to the BBC's homepage.

BOOM confirmed that the poll was not conducted by the BBC and was entirely fabricated to mislead the public.
