Video Footage From Drone Strike On Saudi Aramco Refinery? Not Quite

A 2012 video from Mexico has once again gone viral as footage of the explosion at the Saudi Aramco refinery.

Claim

The video is footage from an explosion in a Saudi Aramco refinery.

Fact

The video is actually from a refinery blast that took place in Reynosa, Mexico near the US border on September 18, 2012. An accidental leak is said to have caused the blast at Mexican state-owned oil and gas company Pemex’s natural gas facility, killing scores. BOOM had debunked the same video in August 2018 when it went viral claiming to show a boiler blast and fire at Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd's refinery in Mumbai.
