The Ravindra Jadeja-James Anderson spat during the firs test match during the on-going India tour of England has sparked off a debate on the code of conduct of International Cricket Council (ICC).
And while match referee David Boon fined Jadeja 50% of the match fee for Level 1 offence, judicial commissioner Gordon Lewis, following a complaint from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), found no evidence of any wrong-doing by Anderson.
Boom News's show #Cricket-O-Mania got together cricket expert Ayaz Memon and former test cricketer Milind Rege to discuss the issue.
"This game is not for sissies. If rules are made and cameras don't catch them, what's the point? And where does this leave match referee David Boon?" Rege asked.
Memon was of the opinion that on-field umpires must administer the code of conduct. "Their powers should not be eroded. Certain banter is fine but nothing beyond that should be permitted."
Rege added that the Indian team management should stay away from all these issues.
Memon said: "Too-and-fro for a month is too much on the issue. The series is still open, and the onus is now on Dhoni."
Memon also added that more senior players should look at these issues and not administrators.
