Rio Olympics 2016: Judo Explained

Judo is a traditional Japanese wrestling sport. It was introduced at the Olympics in 1964 in Tokyo, Japan.

Only male judoka participated until the 1988 Summer Olympics. Women judoka were first awarded medals at the 1992 Summer Olympics.

In order to score, the athletes must throw their opponents to the floor or hold them on the floor for a certain amount of them.
