Remembering India's Favourite President: APJ Abdul Kalam

India remembers the country's 11th President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on his 84th birthday. Kalam's contributions to the country's development effort is legendary and he remains India's most popular president till date.

 

Kalam, who passed away on July 27 this year would have turned 84 today. Considered the most popular President, Kalam became the head of the state and occupied the post between 2002 and 2007.

 

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam rose from humble origins to become an aerospace engineer and played a crucial role in India becoming a nuclear weapon state.
