Parrot May Provide Evidence In U.S. Murder Trial

By - A Staff Writer | 29 Jun 2016 2:36 PM GMT

A Michigan prosecutor is considering whether the words of a pet parrot could be used to try the woman accused of killing his owner.

Bud, a 19-year-old African grey parrot, has been repeating the phrase “don’t shoot” ever since his owner, Martin Duram, was shot multiple times and killed in Sand Lake, Michigan during May 2015.

Martin’s wife Glenna is accused of murdering her husband in front of the couple's pet in 2015. Duram's ex-wife, who now owns Bud, says he's been repeating Martin Duram's last words, which includes the phrase "Don't Shoot".

Animal experts say parrots are highly intelligent creatures, and that it is 'possible' Bud remembers the alleged murder.
