A video of a woman singing the Hanuman Chalisa is going viral on social media with a misleading claim that the singer is Madonna.

BOOM received this video on its WhatsApp helpline number (7700906111), with the caption, "Times are indeed changing ! Madonna sings Hanuman Chalisa."

This video has gone viral on Facebook as well with the same caption.

BOOM broke the video into key frames and did a reverse image search through the Russian search engine Yandex which threw the below video by by the band Shanti People.

The YouTube video uploaded on May 26, 2015 credited the vocal to Uma Devi.

The woman singing the Hanuman Chalisa in the viral video is Uma Devi from Kyiv, Ukraine.

BOOM reached out to the Shanti People, who said the video went viral after it was performed live in 2015.

Shanti People mixes ancient Vedic Mantras with contemporary electronic dance music (EDM). On its website, they state that the band is inspired by traveling and the best music practices in India, and the sources of Vedic culture.
