The Shaukeens
The Shaukeens, produced by Akshay Kumar, is a comedy about three old men who are quite desperate to be with women. Their first plan is a plan to go to Bangkok on an all-guys trip, which fails, and they end up in Mauritius. As it turns out, the girl whose house they are renting is a bikini model. This character played by Lisa Haydon in the movie. The three old men naturally start hitting on her, one by one. These lead characters are played by Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra. This film is directed by Abhishek Sharma, whose first film was Tere Bin Laden. This one is supposedly a remake of the 1982 Basu Chatterjee, Shaukeen.
Boyhood
Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, Richard Linklater’s Boyhood is a groundbreaking coming-of-age movie seen through the eyes of a young boy named Mason. In a breakthrough performance by Ellar Coltrane, we literally see Mason grow up on the screen before our eyes. Starring Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke as Mason’s parents and Lorelei Linklater as his sister, Boyhood charts the rocky terrain of childhood like no other film has before. Snapshots of adolescence, from road trips and family dinners, to birthdays and graduations, become transcendent. Boyhood is both a nostalgic time capsule of the recent past and an ode to growing up and parenting.
