Last year India Post sold holy water from the river Godavari sourced during the auspicious Pushkaram period from 14 to 25 July 2015.

As per Hindu traditions, Pushkaram is celebrated at shrines along the banks of 12 major rivers that are considered sacred in India. It was Godavari’s turn last year.

Saints in the Holy city of Haridwar has warned the government against going ahead with the move, threatening massive protests. Media reports said some e-commerce websites had already started offering the Holy water, sourced from Gomukh.
