Indian Cricket After Supreme Court Order

By - A Staff Writer | 15 Nov 2014 12:48 PM GMT

In the much-awaited hearing of the Mudgal Committee report on the IPL spot fixing case, the Supreme Court has revealed the names of N Srinivasan, Gurunath Meiyappan, Raj Kundra and Sundar Raman who were being probed by the panel. The apex court has moved the next hearing to November 24.

"The Supreme Court needs to take a call whether all names should be made public. Names have cropped up but we don't know in what context, " sports journalist and commentator Ayaz Memon said on Boom News's show #Cricket-O-Mania.

Senior sports journalist Debashish Dutta said while the report has mentioned a few names, "I am not sure whether they will be punished."

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been forced to cancel its annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled for November 20.

Srinivasan was going to stand for re-election as BCCI chief. "Political influence may be needed to throw him (Srinivasan) out," Dutta said.

"The biggest point of the BCCI AGM was appointment of Srinivasan as its chief. It is important that Srinivasan is elected as BCCI chief," Memon said.

Dutta had the final word: "I am a cricket lover, and I would want my team to focus only on the game."
