Three suspected Pakistani terrorists stormed a police station in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district on July 27, 2015. A look at the developments following the terror attack.
The militants, suspected to be from Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), first hijacked a car then opened fire at a bus station before entering the police station in Dinanager--11 kms from Gurdaspur city on NH-15.
The siege lasted for 11 hours and ended after the police and elite commandos of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) surrounded the building and gunned down the militants.
Four policemen – including the superintendent of police (detective) Baljit Singh and three civilians were killed
The Punjab Director General of Police, Sumedh Singh Saini said that their investigations revealed that the gunmen were Punjabi-speaking Muslims on a suicide mission.
