A video showing a truck unloading waste onto a road is being falsely shared by social media users and some news outlets as an attempt by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to block protesters from reaching Jantar Mantar
BOOM found that the video is from Panipat, Haryana, where sanitation workers staged a protest and dumped garbage at Samidhan Chowk, GT Road on August 17, 2026.
Delhi was on high alert ahead of the October 10 protests, with heavy security and police presence, 57 metro stations closed, and several trains halted. On the day, authorities detained CJP members, a large number of protesters and several journalists. BOOM is covering the protests on the ground, and updates are available on our Instagram handle.
The Claim:
The two-minute video is being shared on social media with false claims that Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta deliberately dumped garbage on the roads to prevent protesters from entering Jantar Mantar.
News outlets like Deccan Herald and Centerist Nation TV also carried video reports with the same false claim.
