Happy New Year, directed by Farah Khan and starring Shah Rukh Khan, marks the return of this successful duo after seven long years.

 

Set in Dubai, during the holiday season of Christmas-New Year, Happy New Year also features Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.

 

HNY can be best described as a film where Ocean’s Eleven meets Step Up. It has all the elements that make up a blockbuster but it doesn’t insult your sensibilities even while it plays to the gallery. There are some clichés and unwanted stereotyping in the movie, and Farah Khan packs in comic set pieces, lavish song sequences and herogiri. However, the movie does not lose out on its pace or narrative in this process.
