Railways Asks Passengers With Comorbidities To Avoid Shramik Trains

The Ministry of Railways has asked passengers not to travel by the Shramik Special trains if they are suffering from pre-existing medical conditions. The list of comorbidities include hypertension, diabetes, cardio-vascular diseases, cancer, immune deficiency conditions. Pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years and persons above 65 years have also been asked to avoid rail travel except when it is essential. The appeal comes after many passengers were reported to have died on board Shramik Special trains which are being operated to ferry migrants stuck in other states due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
