40 Lakh Migrants Ferried By Shramik Trains: Govt

Shramik special trains have ferried 40 lakh migrants to their home state since May 1, Railway Board chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav said in a press briefing on Saturday. Yadav also said that 80% of the passengers have been ferried to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Over the next 10 days, a further 36 lakh migrants will travel on the Shramik trains. Yadav also said that the central government is bearing 85 per cent of the expenditure while states are paying 15 per cent through fares.
